La coppia di cemento l’ho ricoperta con cemento Portland. Ho realizzato alcuni progetti utilizzando il cemento e mi piace molto il modo in cui il cemento apparentemente pesante e brutto fa apparire gli oggetti fragili e delicati. Gli oggetti diventano reliquie, quasi fossero stati dissotterrati dal suolo.
Occhiale bianco:
La seconda coppia l’ho rivestita con poster di strada e colla di farina, sempre in modo simile ad altri dipinti che ho creato utilizzando questi materiali. Invecchio i manifesti stradali nel mio studio per farli sembrare vecchi e mi piace il modo in cui i materiali sembrano essere influenzati dal tempo. Trovo affascinanti gli oggetti stagionati e vecchi.

Biografia
Erik Sommer (nato nel 1978 a Duluth, Minnesota) è un artista e curatore nato in America che vive e lavora a New York City. I suoi dipinti, sculture e installazioni in cemento sono influenzati da edifici abbandonati, pietre erose e silenzi inquietanti. Nel suo lavoro cerca di catturare e congelare gli effetti del tempo. Sommer ha tenuto mostre personali a New York, Londra e Berlino e il suo lavoro è stato incluso in numerose mostre collettive in tutto il mondo. Nel 2019 Sommer ha fondato Mott Projects, uno spazio per progetti di arte contemporanea con sede a New York.
