Gray Glasses:
The cement pair I covered with Portland Cement. I have done a few projects using cement, and really like how the seemingly heavy and ugly cement makes the objects appear fragile and delicate. The objects become relics, almost as though they were dug up from the ground.
White Glasses:
The street poster and wheat paste pair I covered with street posters and wheat paste, again similar to other paintings I have created using these materials. I age the street posters in my studio to make them appear old, and like how the materials seem to be affected by time. I find the weathered and old objects to be beautiful.

Biography
Erik Sommer (b. 1978 Duluth, MN) is an American born artist and curator living and working in New York City.
